Berk Toluk
Chief Executive Officer, SofiaSante Pharmaceuticals
Berk Toluk is the Chief Executive Officer of SofiaSante Pharmaceuticals. Under his leadership, SofiaSante is advancing a pipeline of innovative treatments, including novel transdermal drug delivery systems developed in close collaboration with the CSIRO. He has led the company’s capital raising initiatives, secured strategic partnerships, and positioned the business at the forefront of next-generation obesity therapeutics.
A seasoned legal practitioner with over 12 years of experience, Berk has held senior executive positions across government, healthcare, and private practice. His career includes serving as Principal Lawyer (Commercial) at Queensland Health (Metro South Health Service), where he provided strategic legal advice on clinical trials/translational research, commercial contracts, and health law matters for the Executive Leadership Team and Health Service Board. He also worked as Principal Legal Officer at the Queensland Department of the Premier and Cabinet, and as Principal Lawyer at Crown Law, Queensland. Earlier in his career, he founded and managed Toluk Legal, specializing in commercial law and civil litigation.
Berk also brings entrepreneurial experience as the Founder and Managing Director of Castawall Australia, where he led R&D initiatives for the development of a next generation construction system, intellectual property management, licensing, and commercialization activities. This combination of legal expertise and business leadership gives him a unique ability to integrate scientific innovation with governance and commercial execution.
Beyond law and biotechnology, Berk holds postgraduate qualifications in Applied Finance, which strengthen his commercial acumen and support his work in leading capital raising initiatives and complex financial negotiations.
Outside of his professional pursuits, Berk is an avid wildlife photographer, with a keen eye for capturing the natural world. This passion reflects his curiosity, patience, and appreciation for detail: qualities that also define his professional approach.
